TEESWATER TUP LAMB RECORD AT 1,350 guineas
At the annual show & sale of Teeswater Sheep on behalf of the Association, a smaller show
was forward but with the usual high quality. Thanks go to our vendors for bringing out the
sheep in this fashion when it has been such a difficult year.
As usual, a large crowd of buyers, sellers and onlookers gathered travelling from many
counties including Dorset and Aberdeenshire.
The Association and Mart were pleased to welcome Walter Dawson & Son, Accountants, as
sponsors who were represented by Deborah Wood.
Judging this year was in the capable hands Chris Douthwaite of Harrogate. Chris equipped
himself professionally as he dealt with classes containing up to eleven and thirteen sheep as
well as thoroughly inspecting the MV sheep which were separately penned.
The Championship was awarded to a Ram Lamb from Giles and Keiren Horner, Whitby,
which sold to G & J Te Lintelo of Wolsingham for 400gns.
In Reserve place was K & S Tyson of Keswick with an aged ram selling for 700gns to
Crossland & Boby of Swaledale.
The award for the sheep with best fleece went to Thomas Whitfield of Wray.
Top price on the day, and a record for a tup lamb of £1,350 guineas, was achieved for the
third placed lamb by prominent Teeswater breeders for many years, Bainbridge Bros of
Marrick selling to Alan & Colin Price, Clapham.
